On a trip around Sicily, the charming town of Sciacca was an overnight stop on our travels – it is well placed between Selinunte and Agrigento. Arriving in Sciacca around 6.30pm on a Saturday night, there was a lot of traffic in Piazza Saverio Friscia and we could not access the street where B&B Porta Bagni was located as it was closed to vehicle traffic at that time.

We phoned our host, Guiseppe, who kindly came to meet us.

Guiseppe helped us find a park and helped us with our luggage on the short walk to B&B Porta Bagni – just off Corso Vittorio Emanuele – an excellent location.

We were a party of five and had booked two rooms – both on the first floor:

  • Room 1: Actually a suite of two rooms – a double room and a twin room with bathroom between them.
  • Room 3: One double room with ensuite bathroom

Room 1
Double Room

  • Double bed (two singles together) with bedside tables and lamps
  • Desk with TV
  • Wardrobe
  • Split system airconditioner
  • Mirror
  • There was a little landing with a luggage rack
  • Bathroom with shower, basin, bidet and toilet, toiletries
  • French doors opened onto a small balcony with a view over the port

Twin Room

  • Two single beds
  • Chest of drawers
  • Side table
  • Split system air conditioner

B&B Porta Bagni has four rooms on offer for guests. There are three rooms on our level (first floor), and another one upstairs. The reception area is also on the first floor.

Communal Kitchen & Lounge
On the top level is a communal space – shared by guests. There is a spacious kitchen, lounge room, a terrace with beautiful views over the harbour and another terrace with washing machine and clothes line.

Delicious Breakfast
Guiseppe serves a delicious continental breakfast on this level. Guests can also store items in the refrigerator, and make use of the kitchen.

Porto San Paolo Restaurant
For dinner, Guiseppe recommended Porto San Paolo restaurant at the port. It is about a 10 minute downhill walk from the B&B (and a steep walk back up!). We had a delicious meal and our waitress was the daughter of the chef and owner – she was most helpful explaining the menu and the wine list. We can highly recommend Porto San Paolo.

Porta Bagni B&B, Sciacca – Highly Recommended
We can highly recommend a stay at Porta Bagni – Guiseppe is one of the best hosts we met on our trip and the accommodation is clean, spacious, comfortable and has an excellent location. From Porta Bagni we could walk the lovely streets of the old town. There are a lot of beautiful ceramic shops.
